![]() one of the ideas i keep thinking about is just simply replacing the pups i have now with filtertrons. I often jump around with different ideas as i'm trying to figure out buying my second electric guitar and what i want from it and what i find my current guitar is lacking in. do those things(besides pups and wood type) make that big of a difference in getting that gretsch sound? I've been trying to break down the gretsch guitar, since thats what someone suggested to me as i was thinking about other clones of guitars(teles, strats, LP), and the basic layout is a maple top with a mahogany body right? other than that it seems(again with my very basic newbie understanding) that gretsches differ from the typical single cut body in the number and layout of its tone/volume controls, probably the wiring(?), and the choice of pickups(filtertrons vs. I've never heard of this "cheaper duo jet" thing.Ībout saying you could copy Gibson but not Gretsch, what does that mean exactly? i mean, I 've always found Les Pauls(in my limited knowledge) to have a pretty distinct super fat, thick, rich, deep tone, and that it wasn't just the body shape(cuz gretsch jets have the same shape no?). i am very impressed the gretsch was able to recreate their signature sound so well in the new ones and the quality is excellent from both plant before the flood i had a original black falcon, country gent and a new white falcon. Like i said learned to play on one because my step father has an original white falcon(im waiting for him to go senile). you can copy the style but you cant copy the sound. they may have gone because the reserve was set at a grand there was a small bidding war over it.Īs far as a copy goes.there really is no substitute. ![]() i put some tv jones and locking sperzels on it and i just sold it thursday for 1158 on ebay. ive seen em in black, red or natural for around 700 at the local dealer down here.im looking at the receipt and I bought one for 758.51 w/case. When you think of the duojet like nick13 plays you think 2500. but yeah its the same body as the duojet. you can get it at a dealer in town cheaper. other than the color its a damn nice guitar and it cost around 600 online. its hard to pass off as anything but a projet. The projet is that silver bass boat painted one. dont bother with online b/s when your dealing with gretsch.go to a dealer in your area because you can get a better price. so if you want one buy em while theyre still cheap because theyre about to raise the prices again. they were a bigger name than gibson back in the day. No theyre not in the game, but getting there quick. i learned basic chords on one when i was younger and they are just so easy to play theres no substitute. ![]()
